About the event
The U.S. SMB Global Business Academy is a partnership between  the U.S. Commercial Service, Department of Commerce and UPS. The partnership aims to increase the participation of small U.S. businesses in exporting and create more opportunities for SMBs to achieve economic success through an understanding of ecommerce, export logistics and digital trade. This capacity building program will equip entrepreneurs with the necessary tools and resources to become globally competitive.  Â
The program’s curriculum includes virtual workshops, one-on-one consultations, insights, and training. The topics include export strategies, tools and resources to enter new markets, insights on how to build an export-friendly digital presence, and guidance on package flows and preparing export shipment. Â
U.S. SMB Global Business Academy 2023 will be hosted online every Tuesday, from July 11 to August 1 at 9 am PT/11 am CT/12 pm ET, and it is free to attend. Â Â
Benefits of trade for SMBs Â
While globalization has created opportunities for small businesses to sell their goods and services in new markets, not enough small businesses are taking advantage of these international opportunities. Â In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce, only 266,457 of the approximately 27 million small businesses , or less than 1 percent, currently sell their products to foreign buyers. Â This training looks to provide the tools necessary to enable SMBs enter international trade.Â
